Here’s how the top 10 wealthiest counties in Pennsylvania compare, according to an analysis from finance website SmartAsset. For the CDT

Chester County was recently named the wealthiest county in Pennsylvania, according to finance website SmartAsset, and the analysis found Centre County the 15th richest.

Centre County didn’t perform as well as it did in 2023’s ranking, which named it the fifth richest county in the commonwealth. Still, the county performed better than many, and its median home value was ranked seventh in Pennsylvania at $329,667. SmartAsset reports Centre County’s median income is $70,087 and its investment income is $45,261.

SmartAsset used sources such as the U.S. Census Bureau, real estate site Zillow and the Internal Revenue Service to compile the ranking. The three metrics considered included investment income, property value and median income. The most recent ranking reflects data from 2024, according to SmartAsset.

Statewide, Pennsylvania’s median household income is $76,081, according to the Census Bureau, and 12% of the commonwealth’s residents live in poverty.
