State Rep. Scott Conklin plans to run for 11th term representing Centre County
One of Centre County’s longtime representatives said Saturday that he plans to run for reelection.
State Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Rush Township, plans to seek his 11th term representing Pennsylvania’s 77th House District. Last fall he defeated his Republican challenger, Marie Librizzi, for a two-year term that ends in November 2026.
Conklin shared his plans following Philipsburg resident Zach Womer’s Thursday announcement that he intends to seek the Democratic nomination for the 77th House District, setting up a potential primary contest next spring.
“At this critical time, experience and seniority are of utmost importance in legislative representation,” Conklin said in a written statement. “Rest assured, I plan to continue to serve you. Our offices, in both State College and Philipsburg, will continue to deliver the excellent service so many in our community have come to rely upon. It is an honor to represent you in Harrisburg, and with your support, I will continue to provide servant leadership for years to come.”
Conklin has served the 77th House District, which includes part of State College borough, along with Port Matilda and Patton, Ferguson, Rush, Huston and Worth townships, since 2007. He is the current chair of the House Commerce committee.
Prior to the state House, he was a Centre County commissioner for seven years and has a background in business. He previously had unsuccessful runs for statewide offices, including auditor general in 2020 and lieutenant governor in 2010.
