Powerball player wins $1 million in Pennsylvania. Where was lucky ticket sold?
A Powerball player in Pennsylvania won $1 million, just missing the $429 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched five winning numbers, but not the Powerball, in the drawing Monday, Aug. 4, the Pennsylvania Lottery said.
The lucky ticket was sold at Boyer’s Food Markets in Lansford, which is about a 90-mile drive northwest from Philadelphia, lottery officials said in an email to McClatchy News.
A ticket sold in Texas won $2 million and one sold in Vermont won $1 million.
The winning numbers were 8, 9, 19, 31 and 38 with a Powerball of 21. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
Powerball jackpot rises
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $449 million, with a cash value of about $203.9 million, for the next drawing Wednesday, Aug. 6, the national Powerball site said.
More than 515,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won May 31, when a California player hit the $204.5 million grand prize.
