After a winter storm brought ice to central Pennsylvania, Penn State, local school districts and many businesses are closed Friday due to hazardous road conditions.
The National Weather Service issued a new winter weather advisory through 1 p.m. Friday, after issuing a flood advisory through 9 a.m.
“River or stream flows are elevated. Ice movement may lead to jams and blockages,” the flood advisory states.
Thursday’s winter storm advisory warned of 1 to 2 inches of snow but up to 1/4 of an inch of ice. Conditions will slowly improve on Friday but drivers should be cautious, David Martin, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service, said Thursday.
