Live updates: PennDOT lifts vehicle and speed limit restrictions on roadways
Centre County school districts, Penn State and local businesses were closed Wednesday as another batch of winter weather hits the area.
The region is under a winter weather advisory through 7 p.m. Wednesday, with the National Weather Service predicting 2-4 inches of snow and ice accumulations of a light glaze. The NWS previously issued a winter storm watch.
State College Area School District announced Tuesday evening that schools will be closed Wednesday, with all after-school activities canceled. Bald Eagle, Bellefonte, Penns Valley and Philipsburg-Osceola area school districts will have a flexible instruction day. Young Scholars of Central Pennsylvania will also be closed.
Penn State announced that classes, activities and work at the University Park campus are canceled from 5 a.m. Wednesday through 5 a.m. Thursday. Only employees who perform essential services should report.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation lifted all vehicle restrictions on Interstates 80 and 99 at about 2:30 p.m. At about 4 p.m., all speed limit restrictions were lifted.
College Township declared a snow emergency effective 10 a.m. Wednesday.
- Schlow Centre Region Library is closed Wednesday.
- Mount Nittany Health announced changes in hours for several locations on Wednesday. All Mount Nittany Physician Group practices will open at 1 p.m., while the Cancer Center Partnership is closed Wednesday. For more information on the changes, visit MNH’s website.
- The Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority announced that recycling collection crews will start collection at 6 a.m. Wednesday.
- The Patton Township board of supervisors meeting was postponed to 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
- The Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District will have a flexible instruction day Wednesday.
- The Centre County Courthouse and its offices will be closed Wednesday. All hearings will be rescheduled. Preliminary hearings were postponed to Thursday.
- Patton Township announced a snow emergency starting at 5 a.m. Wednesday. Residents should have all vehicles off of streets until the snow has been removed.
- Harris Township declared a snow emergency, announcing that ticketing will begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday and all vehicles must be removed from public streets.
