A winter weather advisory has been issued for Centre County. Here’s what to expect.
March is off to a wintry start, with another winter weather advisory issued for central Pennsylvania.
The advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service at State College. Snow is expected, the advisory states.
The NWS forecast for southern Centre County, which includes State College, states a total snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is expected Monday night, with the lows in the upper 20s.
Joe Bauco, meteorologist at NWS State College, said precipitation will move in starting around 7 or 8 p.m. Monday.
It will probably start out as rain and will mix with snow, Bauco said, and it will change fully over to snow around 1 a.m. Tuesday. It will continue until around 4 or 5 a.m., he said.
“We’re looking at snow totals of under 2 inches for the State College area, so nothing too much,” he said. “As you go further north in Centre County, it looks like there will be some more snow, closer to 3, possibly 4 inches.”
“I think the timing of this system is pretty good for the Centre County area in particular, it’s not going to be too impactful,” Bauco said.
