Winter storm warning issued for all of Centre County. How much snow will we get?
Despite unseasonably warm temperatures Saturday, snow is still again on its way to Centre County.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning Monday that will stretch from midnight through 11 a.m. Tuesday. Forecasts are calling for total snowfall of 5 to 9 inches in portions of central Pennsylvania during that time.
After a winter storm watch was issued over the weekend, all of Centre County is now included in the winter storm warning, plus Altoona, Johnstown and much of north-central Pennsylvania. According to the NWS advisory, snow could be heavy at times with wind gusts north of 20 mph Monday night heading into Tuesday.
According to a Monday update from the NWS, snow is expected to be heaviest “during a 4 to 6-hour period late tonight and early Tuesday morning.” Snowfall rates could potentially exceed an inch per hour during that time.
“Travel could be very difficult,” the NWS said in its winter storm watch. “The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.”
AccuWeather expects road conditions to improve Tuesday afternoon.
