Most Centre County school districts will operate on a two-hour delay Monday — and one district will be closed — after a winter storm brought several inches of snow to the area.

State College, Bellefonte, Bald Eagle and Penns Valley schools districts all announced the delays early Monday morning, citing the storm and slick road conditions. Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District also initially called for a two-hour delay, but later transitioned to a virtual day due to poor road conditions in West Decatur.

“Please travel safely and allow extra time this morning,” the Bald Eagle Area School District wrote on Facebook.

Snow fell in Centre County throughout Sunday, part of a major winter storm that struck the Northeast and brought more than 15 inches of snow to parts of New York. Centre County fared far better, with snowfall totals ranging from 2-4 inches Sunday night, according to the NWS.

The National Weather Service previously issued a winter storm warning though 1 p.m. Monday, but that has been cancelled and replaced with a winter weather advisory. Another inch of snow is possible, the advisory states, with wind gusts as high as 40 mph.
