Brooks makes assertions of ‘big lies’

Why does the CDT keep publishing trash like David Brooks’ latest editorial, “How Trump kills the GOP”?

I used to admire Brooks as an intellectual. Clearly, he has sold out to his employer’s demands to demean Trump at every turn of events.

All the Trump attackers employ the same model: They set up a falsehood, then claim it is truth, then build their argument on the lie. Hitler was a brilliant social demeanor using the same technique, which was labeled the “big lie.”

In the recent article, Brooks makes the assertion that President Trump “established his political identity through birtherism, he won the Republican nomination on the Muslim ban, he campaigned on the Mexican wall, he governed by being neutral on Charlottesville and pardoning racialist Joe Arpaio.” All of those assertions are big lies.

Here are the facts: Trump established his political identity by having been a highly successful businessman and executive for decades; the presidency is an executive position! The birtherism issue was highly contended by millions of Americans; Trump used it as a political ploy, a calling against Obamaism. Trump won the Republican nomination by dashing the qualifications of a dozen political rivals who were voted against in primaries. And there was no appeal by Trump for a “ban.” That was an invention by Trump’s many opponents. What Trump called for was a temporary hold on admitting immigrants from the very same places that Obama named as harboring terrorists. Trump did campaign on building a wall — to contain the wave of illegal migrants from the south, not as a racist statement against Mexicans! And Trump certainly was not “neutral” on Charlottesville.

He is not the speaker that Obama was. What Trump meant, and has tried to clarify, was that there are “many fine people” on both sides of the argument to keep or pull down Confederate monuments. He absolutely was not saying that radical racist whites are equal to radical blacks — what the media who hate Trump have nastily labeled “moral equivalency.” CNN, MSNBC and other Trump haters entirely made up that accusation, and now they build on it. And the sheriff was set up by Obama’s enforcement officers and found guilty of a misdemeanor.

I’ve never heard President Trump say one single racist word. He speaks constantly about brotherhood and a better America — one where accomplishment gives pride, instead of government handing out welfare.
