Unable vs. unfit

As a nation, we have arrived at what is called a constitutional crisis. What kind of people are we? What kind of country do we want? Does our president who was not elected by the majority of the voters represent us? He is saying and doing damage to our country and our standing in the world. Can he be removed?

There are two pathways: the 25th Amendment and impeachment.

The key words are unable or unfit.

Under the 25th Amendment, the vice president and a majority of the secretaries sends a message to the House and Senate stating that the president is unable to fulfill his duties, but if he disagrees he can say he is able and that’s the end of it.

The second is impeachment. Four reasons in the constitution are treason, bribery, high crimes and misdemeanors which cover misconduct such as perjury of oath, abuse of authority, bribery, intimidation, misuse of assets, failure to supervise, dereliction of duty, unbecoming conduct and refusal to obey a lawful order. If a president does not resign, he may be convicted and removed by the Senate.

Evidence to be declared unfit for office is being gathered but without Congress willing to address it nothing will change. Our only pathway to reclaiming our way of life is to vote. A majority in congress that would vote country over party and personal greed would make it happen. The power to protect our country and our children’s future is voting.
