Add your voice to conversation about race
What is the climate in our schools, in our community and on campus? Do we really understand the perspective of others, especially those who have had a different experience than our own?
As the other writers on this page argue, this is an important conversation, one we can’t be afraid to have.
The Public Issues Forum model has long emphasized the value of creating a safe space for conversations on difficult, controversial issues. The value of our forums comes from your willingness, as citizens, to share your perspective, and to learn from others.
To that end, we are reaching out to everyone in our community: parents, students and teachers; longtime residents and the newly arrived. Your voice is not only important, it’s essential.
So, let’s talk. Then let’s see what kind of change we can create. Please join us on Feb. 27.
David Hutchinson is the chairman of the Public Issues Forum af Centre County and a member of the State College Area school board.
