How low can we go?
I’m not referring to the recent election but wish to bring up our water situation here in Happy Valley.
Recent news reports state that our drought, though small when compared to what’s been happening in the South and on the West Coast, will continue through this coming winter. We must not allow our precious water to be messed with or lost due to outside interests. Hopefully Ferguson Township will disallow Toll Brothers, of Philadelphia, to build near a prime groundwater source, and College Township continues to limit Hanson, of England, from expanding its quarry in Oak Hall. In early October, Hanson posted a request to dig deeper, which could be a threat to Spring Creek. It runs through the quarry property and it would be the “lowest of the low” to lose that stream to a man-made sinkhole or calamity.
Make these townships aware that we need to preserve and protect one of our most valuable resources — water.
