Money better spent elsewhere
The energy savings audit that the county had done says, “Invest $5 million now, and you’ll save $7 million over 20 years.”
That is too low a rate of return for our money. It is a return of about 1.75 percent compounded and not worth doing.
It shows that the county facilities studied are very energy efficient as they are. If we have $5 million to spend, use it to reduce debt, or not incur additional debt.
