Pa. can pave way for viable future

Fracking and other forms of resource drilling are not the way to a sustainable future. These forms of obtaining energy have been proven to increase cancer rates as well as damage major organs. Although working in fossil fuel industries may seem like the only employment option for some Pennsylvanians, there are ways to work toward the solution for a healthier Earth.

Solar and wind energy is sustainable and profitable. Americans could reduce both our dependence on foreign oil and our emission of greenhouse gases if we switched to 100 percent green sources. This is easier said than done, but is possible if business leaders collaborate with environmentalists. Miners can learn the benefits of working in solar or wind over a finite energy industry, and advocates can learn from the stories of these hard-working Americans.

A compromise must be made for the sake of our health, as well as the viability of the planet. Educate yourself on the fossil fuel industry so you can make informed decisions regarding your energy consumption. Our state can pave the way for a viable future.
