In defense of Toll Brothers

I believe that it is high time that someone speaks out on behalf of Toll Brothers.

Thanks to Toll Brothers, many Pennsylvania residents live in well-built homes, safe and sound.

Toll Brothers has constructed award-winning condominium communities for senior citizens of limited means.

Toll Brothers has faithfully supported the radio broadcasts of the Metropolitan Opera for many years.

The “tent dwellers” allege that the planned Ferguson Township development might compromise the environment and the water supply. There is not a shred of reliable evidence to support this claim. The tent dwellers’ own “expert” admits as much.

The tent dwellers have resorted to an invidious letter-writing campaign, seeking to intimidate Penn State by citing peripheral issues in a negative light, a campaign of dubious relevancy and questionable ethics.

Penn State has negotiated a solemn contract with Toll Brothers. Should the university renege on this obligation, will the tent dwellers pay the hefty legal expenses resulting from this abrogation? Not likely.

Let all the residents of State College support, therefore, the efforts of Toll Brothers to make this community more cosmopolitan and more progressive!

Eugene Shaw-Colyer, State College
