Stop racism from taking root
I have recently heard through friends and colleagues that black children in State College schools are called racial slurs and verbally harassed by some other children. Because teachers and staff might not be trained to deal with these situations, they don’t know what to do and often do nothing at all, so these practices continue unchecked.
The community and the school board need to address this problem as soon as possible. Proactive steps on the part of our part can insure that children in Happy Valley of all races experience school as an opportunity to fulfill their greatest potential.
We have it in our power to help stop racism from taking root among the next generation of our people.
