Town hall the way Thompson wanted it

How interesting that Rep. Glenn Thompson’s chief of staff would try to tell us that Thompson basically had little involvement in creating and setting up the Aug. 10 WPSU “town hall” (CDT letters, 8/24).

In his letter, Thompson’s employee suggested that neither Thompson nor members of his staff had much to do with arranging this pretend “town hall.” But Thompson, who has gone overboard telling us why he doesn’t do town halls, certainly wouldn’t have appeared at this one without full knowledge that everything would be structured to his advantage.

I watched the event and found that both the WPSU format and the Thompson responses lacked any spontaneity and any depth. It appeared to me that, working together, this was just the way both WPSU and Thompson wanted it.
