PSU should do the land swap

As the Nittany Valley Water Coalition’s occupation of Penn State’s Whitehall Road site continues past 100 days, it’s worth pointing out yet again how extremely important it is that the Penn State trustees choose to do the requested land swap with Toll Brothers. Penn State should never have offered this 44-acre site for development in the first place. The entire unspoiled agricultural landscape of several hundred acres should remain this way indefinitely: its breathtaking vistas nourish our souls, and the land protects our watershed.

The Centre Region is very fortunate to have such a beautiful place, and such high-quality water. Let us keep it that way! Penn State should create and showcase a sustainable agriculture program on this land, and thus do their part to help ClearWater Conservancy and our community stay a truly great place to live - and have a world-class university!
