No use appealing to better nature
So there is another chance to get rid of the Affordable Care Act. A bill conceived in a hurry, to be passed in a hurry.
How many people will be let out in the cold? How many will lose insurance? What will be the cost of the GOP’s victory dance?
Who cares, anyway?
If there was need for proof that the GOP has lost all its moral bearings, here it is. They do not care how many people they throw under the bus. They just want to sing “nah, nah, nah” at the Democrats.
And us? They could not care less. We are not human.
We do not count.
So, if you got a pre-existing condition, call your Senator and tell him, “I have a pre-existing condition and I vote.” If you got enrolled thanks to the Medicaid expansion, tell him “I am on the Medicaid expansion and I vote.” If you depend on the subsidy to afford your premiums tell him “I need the subsidy and I vote.” If you have a rural hospital that can be destroyed by these changes, tell him. “I want to keep my rural hospital and I vote.”
Do not appeal to their better nature. They have none.
Just threaten to vote against him. And do so.
