Trump lost, and protesters won

The news of NFL protests broke the joy and peace of the football season. While the protests claimed to seek respect for people of color, the spotlight wasn’t really on President Donald Trump until he criticized their actions with inappropriate suggestion and insulting language. I understand that Trump, as president, opposed their protests to show his stance for national unity, but his approach and attitude failed him, as they did in the past.

It is hard not to remind me of the controversy in April, when Trump almost forgot to cross his hand over his heart during the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll. Compared to Trump’s carelessness, the protestors deliberately showed their desire for equality and respect through the protests. Their actions were to express their wills and to attract people’s attention, and they succeeded in both.

On the other hand, Trump’s suggestion of firing the protestors will only cause him further troubles. As a president for a country of democracy, he didn’t hear the voice of his people but tried to suppress them with power. I couldn’t imagine how the general public will buy his points and support him regarding this incident.
