Suppression of free speech dangerous
Colin Kaepernick knelt during the national anthem. Not an extremely aggressive gesture. He has been blackballed by the NFL owners. President Donald Trump wants him fired. Unlike President Trump, I did not have a sore foot, and found my way to Vietnam, where I most certainly never thought about fighting for the national anthem or flag! Like President Trump, I swore an oath to preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States. Like President Trump, I support the Second Amendment. Unlike President Trump, I also support the First Amendment, which guarantees the right to protest. Suppression of free speech at Berkeley was bad enough. When our president promotes that suppression, it becomes dangerous. When the flag becomes more important than what it stands for, we are in deep trouble.
In defense of the First Amendment, I’ll take a knee.
