Residents also pay taxes
How sad to read, once again (Lyn Pipenberg’s letter CDT 10/10/17), of our local representatives’ rush to accommodate the will of developers whose sole interest is profit. That small area of parkland near the entrance to Park Forest off North Atherton Street is a quiet, green welcome to a neighborhood whose very name denotes the dream of its original developer, Glenn Hawbaker, so many years ago. He planned a residential development without clear cutting, even though it would have been less expensive and less complicated to do so. Surely the development group and the Patton Township board can preserve this small bit of green. Residential neighborhoods should not have to bear the burden of conveniencing commercial development. We pay taxes, too ...
