Black has the right traits to be mayor
Over the past two years, I have come to know Michael Black, candidate for mayor of State College borough. We first met when Black hosted a Leadership Centre County event at his studio, which provided a wonderful opportunity to bring together local artists and aspiring community leaders.
For the past two years, Black has served on the Leadership Centre County Board and been on several committees. As a fellow board member, I have observed that he meets one of the first requirements of any board member, he shows up, and he also gives his full attention to the work at hand. Black seeks information before making a decision, offers creative solutions and is forward-thinking, considering the impact that decisions made today might have in years to come. He is by far one of the most engaged people with whom I have served; I believe that he will bring all of these traits and more to the position of mayor of State College borough.
Finally, I would note that by having participated in Leadership Centre County, Black has had an opportunity to learn about everything from government to the economy to the arts and much more. His experience with LCC should serve him well should he lead the borough and find himself collaborating with other governmental organizations, social service agencies, the Penn State and business communities. It is for these reasons that I endorse Michael Black for State College mayor.
