In response to Patricia DeVier’s letter in Tuesday’s CDT, the last thing State College needs is a casino. With the large student population creating an atmosphere that encourages gambling addictions is totally irresponsible. That said, I agree the Nittany Mall needs to be repurposed. How about using the space as a Cultural Center affording all the various and sundry museums and galleries a combined, convenient space with tons of parking for displays, events, even a food court. The Nittany Mall should be reconsidered and restructured to be a functional, socially responsible contribution to the community. Let’s rethink its use for an educational purpose that benefits the entire county.
