The Penns Valley Lady Rams are having a wonderful season; their record now stands at 8-1 while the Huntingdon girls’ basketball team is 4-3. Huntingdon outscored Penns Valley 15-4 in the first period on Wednesday, though PV came back a bit in the second to set the halftime score at a Huntingdon 8-point advantage, 22-14. In the second half, PV doubled-up Huntingdon scoring 30 vs. the Lady Bearcats 15, winning by seven at the final buzzer. Per the CDT article, PV was down “double digits” after one, down eight after the half and then came back and did what they do. They won.
Huntingdon’s past two outings have shown them outscored by a combined 87 points. This is not intended to disrespect the Huntingdon squad but what has me confused is the CDT’s lede paragraph: “The Penns Valley girls’ basketball team rallied Wednesday night to stun Huntingdon for a 44-37 win.” Somehow I think that Huntingdon would have been more “stunned” had they won.
