Time to create fair voting districts

Bravo to the state Supreme Court for requiring new voting districts by Feb. 9 to replace the egregious gerrymandering that is the result of politicians choosing their voters in 2011. Corman, Turzai and other legislators are howling that this should be a legislative issue, not a court issue. Those of us volunteering with Fair Districts PA absolutely agree. Get Senate Bill 22 and House Bill 722 out of committee and vote to pass them. Nearly half the assembly members have already co-sponsored these bills. Local municipalities are passing more resolutions in support, including everyone in Clinton County. About 75 percent of voters across party lines want redistricting reform. Our representatives should pass these amendments to the Pa. constitution so we won’t need future court cases to create fair voting districts for the state assembly and Congress.
