Letters: Casino chaos can be avoided; Masks make sense
Casino chaos can be avoided
Supporters of the proposed casino at Nittany Mall probably think it’s a done deal now. That’s not true and the casino’s license approval likely won’t be the sure thing some have hoped when the Gaming Control Board votes to approve or deny the license later this year.
Before folks choose to throw away their hard-earned money at slot machines, they should first learn how those slot machines work. Slots machine-related YouTube videos are easily found by doing a quick search for “Slot machine myths & how slots really work.”
The first video from that search takes just under 12 minutes to watch and you’ll learn more about those charming slot machines than nearly every gambler who has ever played them!
The odds always favor the house, even if every slot machine in the casino is being played at the same time. Truthfully, the slots players are the ones being played!
If you oppose the nonstop gambling chaos and problems the casino would bring to Happy Valley, send the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) your strong opposition by emailing the PGCB at boardclerk@pa.gov. Hundreds of your neighbors have already done so and College Township is tracking the email input at their CollegeTownship.org website under “Casino Information.”
If the PGCB approves the proposed casino’s license when they vote later this year, those 750 charming slot machines will be there waiting for you. Please email your casino opposition feedback to the PGCB today. They’ll read every word of your input before they vote!
Masks make sense
Have you ever watched a medical drama show on television where the surgeons refuse to wear a surgical mask because of philosophical or ideological reasons?
Do you think that any person would let a surgeon cut into them or their children without wearing a surgical mask?
So, why do surgeons wear a mask?
Is there some disease that the surgeons are trying to not give to their patients or trying not to get themselves?
You know, there is a disease going through the U.S. population right now.
Don’t you think, like your surgeon, that you should probably wear a mask to not pass on that disease or get it yourself?
Privacy must be protected
Why does Jake want your private information? Why does he want it to go to a third party? This investigative committee is a farce and nothing but an attempt to remain unchallenged and in power. The fact that Jake is leading the way to subpoena information from voting records such as driver’s license numbers, the last four digits of social security numbers, and a record of who people voted for is an incredible violation of privacy. The Majority Leader, Senator Ward, stated that this is “intrusive and overreaching.” I don’t understand how Jake, who claims to care about rights and privacy, can justify using taxpayer money on frivolous lawsuits and is fine with releasing information to a third party.
The lack of true transparency regarding as to why Jake wants to get access to and release private information of voters via the courts is extremely irresponsible. Jake is someone speaks about less government interference, but his actions are the opposite, including support for preemption, invading privacy, and continuing to abuse the court system for political gain. Our government should not be doing this.
The most pressing concern regarding voters’ privacy is the lack of planning from committee leadership to address how the sensitive information they want to gather will be stored, used, or who has accessibility to is beyond alarming. Make your voices heard and write to your State Senator about how you want your privacy protected and not given freely to others.
Freedom of choice
You protesters who are railing about the life-saving vaccine and masks ... take your signs and march to the Supreme Court and tell them that. A woman’s body is her choice!
