Biden’s incompetence on display at southern border

The 44,055 Centre Countians who voted for Joe Biden (White House occupant) should be ashamed. You knew or should have known that Biden was unfit for office, but you voted for him anyway. Now we’re stuck with an inept fool who is devastating our country.

Biden’s incompetence is on full display along our southern border.

According to US CBP data, CBP encounters along the southern border for all of 2020 were 547,795. However, from January through August 2021, the number of encounters rose to 1,323,597, an increase of 141.6%. If this trend continues, we could be looking at 2,000,000 illegal crossings in 2021, an increase of about 262% over 2020.

Why the increase?

Well, according to Jen Psaki, Biden’s press secretary , the Republicans are at fault. During a presser on Sept. 21, she actually said that while Republicans give speeches about the border, not many are offering any solutions.

Of course, what Psaki said is a lie.

The statistics clearly show that something went wrong in 2021. That something was the inauguration of Joe Biden. During his campaign, Biden called for a surge to the border. Biden stopped “wall” construction, ended the stay in Mexico agreement and virtually eliminated ICE deportations. In other words, Biden sent a message and the people of the world responded.

Centre County’s Biden voters are partially responsible for this disaster and must act now. All you, the 44,055, must contact Joe Biden and Senator Bob Casey and demand an end to the madness.

Thankful for another successful book sale

The books are sold, the tomato boxes are empty, and our volunteers have taken some much deserved time to rest. The last order of business is to say thank you to our volunteers and community for another successful AAUW State College Used Book Sale. From when we began accepting donations last summer through the last sale day on Oct. 12, the sale has certainly had its challenges in an uncertain year, but we were so happy to host this engaging event for the community, give thousands of books new life, and use funds netted to continue supporting local scholarships and grants for projects that help advance women’s equity. This year’s sale grossed over $120,000 and we could not be more pleased!

Thank you to our leadership team who organized the event, the hundreds of volunteers who helped make it happen, and the shoppers who came from near and far to partake in their love of reading! We’d also like to recognize the LEAD Society in the College of Agriculture who makes this event possible every year through their partnership, Phi Sigma Sigma sorority for help throughout the sale, and Happy Valley Communications for their social media expertise!

We will start accepting donations for our 60th annual sale, May 14-17, 2022, on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at our new Used Book Workshop at 2197 High Tech Road, State College (across from the airport). Learn more at http://www.aauwstatecollege.org/booksale/donations.html.
