Consider voting Green this fall
Kudos to the CDT for running the Aug. 1 article which detailed “Third-party candidates file to run for Pa. Governor, Senate.” I’m happy to report that the Green Party of Pennsylvania successfully filed about 500 pages of petitions from counties across the commonwealth, and as a result of that massive submission, we will be on the November ballot.
The Greens had to gather many thousands more signatures than the 5,000 required to be submitted by law since we were expecting them to be challenged by the state officials in the Democratic Party. I should note that the major parties only have to amass 2,000 valid signatures to appear on the ballot.
To continue as a minor party in Pennsylvania, we have to run a statewide candidate who gets 2% of the winner’s total in the November election. We are running Christina “PK” DiGiulio, an analytical chemist from Downingtown, as our gubernatorial candidate.
Michael Bagdes-Canning, a Butler County mayor, is seeking the post of Lieutenant Governor. Richard L. Weiss, an Allegheny County attorney, is our nominee for the U.S. Senate.
I reject the article’s assertion that the Greens helped tilt the outcome of the 2016 and 2000 presidential elections. Former Democrats voted Republican!
I hope readers will consider voting for our candidates this fall. They will be pushing issues which have been dropped and ignored by the duopoly like fracking, health care, the gift ban, COVID, criminal justice reform and elections reform.
Learn about representatives and alternatives
Due to redistricting, some municipalities, including my home, Worth Township, will find themselves in the 77th House District, currently represented by Democrat Rep. Scott Conklin.
Since Conklin is new to my township and up for re-election, I decided to learn more about him. I tried to schedule a meeting, but Conklin won’t responded to my request. So, I did the next best thing. I checked his voting record at justfacts.votesmart.org.
The following is a partial list of bills that Conklin opposed:
• HR187- Resolution to urge NY and NJ to end policies that block PA natural gas pipelines.
• HB1947- Prohibits municipalities from requiring that energy providers use only renewable energy sources.
• HB1332- Requires posting of school curriculums online.
• SB618- Prohibits government entities from requiring vaccine passports.
• HB1300- Requires voter ID and election audits at least once every 5 years.
• HB55 -Limits the governor’s emergency powers to 21 days unless extended by the General Assembly.
Remember, this is only a small sample. Voters, especially those new to District 77, should review Conklin’s entire voting history.
Based on my review, I’ve concluded that Conklin is a “woke” Biden/Pelosi Democrat who wants to undermine PA’s energy industry, strengthen teacher unions, squelch voter integrity laws, and enable wannabe dictators to suspend freedom in the name of so-called disaster emergencies.
Fortunately, an “America First” Republican, Steve Yetsko, is challenging Conklin. Steve stands for free and fair elections, school choice, a robust energy sector, and personal freedom. Check out Steve at letsgowithyetsko.com before casting your vote.
Making America great again?
Last month 528,000 new jobs were created in the United States. That’s more jobs than were created during any month of Donald Trump’s presidency. But of course that’s not hard to do: While Trump was president the total number of jobs in the United States decreased by 3 million.
Last week Senate Democrats passed a bill to cap the cost of a vial of insulin at $35 for anyone over 65. They wanted to cap it that way for everyone, but Senate Republicans refused to go along. That’s because they’d rather send sick people’s money to corporations: in the United States a vial of insulin costs $95. The next-highest cost for insulin comes from Chile (about $22). Folks in Europe get their insulin for $10 a vial.
Weren’t some folks going on, for a while, about making America great again? Looks like President Brandon is having a pretty good summer.
