Letters: What will shake Trump supporters?; Representatives reflect constituents
What will shake Trump supporters?
What will it take for Trump’s gullible supporters to realize that Don the Con duped them?
The FBI searched Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort home looking for top secret documents he stole from the White House— documents that included U.S. nuclear information. (Now why would anyone want top secret nuclear documents?)
Remember that Trump claimed — without evidence, and using an argument that was rejected by courts 66 times in different jurisdictions — that the election was stolen from him.
It’s the very same guy who pressured Georgia officials, in a recorded call, to “find” enough votes to overturn his 2022 election defeat.
Trump incited an insurrection on January 6, 2022, against his government that left five dead.
The Lancet Commission attributed over 400,000 deaths in the U.S. to the Trump administration’s mishandling of the COVID pandemic.
Trump appealed to America’s enemy Vladimir Putin for election help. Trump claimed he did more for religion than anyone in history, demonstrating pride that would make Satan proud. He called war hero John McCain a loser for being captured as a prisoner of war.
Trump allegedly broke election laws when he paid hush money to a pornographic film star. How do Trump supporters respond to these, and other, outrageous actions? They support him!
Could Trump do anything to shake the irrational faith of his naive supporters? It seems not.
There was a German and an Italian years ago who enjoyed similar irrational support.
Representatives reflect constituents
A recent Centre Daily Times letter posed a rhetorical question, “Votes need explanation,” then later, “I thought our congressional representatives reflected the opinions of people in their district.”
Here are the results of the 2020 election by percentage of votes:
12th District Fred Keller-R, 71%; Lee Griffin-D, 29%
15th District G T Thompson-R, 73%; Robert Williams-D, 27%
They were both re-elected! Thompson by a good majority in Centre County; Keller did not receive a majority in Centre County. However, that (overall) popular majority certainly demonstrates that both are “voting the beliefs of their constituents.” I encourage them to conduct town hall meetings where their supporters reside. Watch for the results this year.
My representative, Fred Keller, suits me to a “T.” He certainly expresses my opinions. But, it appears, some are not happy because he doesn’t express their opinions. I repeat a statement that I have made many times — “education is no criteria of intelligence.” Many Centre countians need to be reminded that our folks who live in rural areas are not dumb. Our voting neighbors continue to re-elect representatives who serve them very well.
Real justice for al Qaeda leaders
Killing the two al Qaeda leaders brings “justice” of a sort.
But real justice demands that they be captured, brought to the international criminal court and tried.
They violated human order. Their great evil is cured when their lawlessness is confronted by the law.
