Letters: Vote for planet Earth; Government to the rescue for me, not thee
Vote for planet Earth
Democrats up and down the leadership ladder work for Americans.
Republicans have created a grievance world. They have many takers for this new world of hurt. Doing nothing to alleviate the suffering of their followers nor solving the problems of real people.
They have no beliefs, no policies, no compassion.
Biden was elected to help the people of this country, even as he faces almost insurmountable obstacles.
Biden has created 9 million new environmental and clean energy jobs. For our present, our future. Earthday.org tells us that Biden’s $369 billion in the Inflation Reduction Act building energy infrastructure will cut carbon emissions by 40% over 10 years. Domestic clean energy and transportation balloon; $260 billion increasing clean renewable electricity generation and decreasing carbon emissions by 80%. $80 billion for EV rebates so more of us can buy them. $1.5 billion in incentives to reduce deadly methane and $4 billion to combat drought.
The average American family can expect to pay $1,025 less on energy in 2030. There are up to $7,500 in tax credits for the purchase of EV, new or used. $7,000 average savings on roof top solar installation. Up to $14,000 in rebates to buy energy efficient appliances. Cuts air pollution and prevents 3,900 premature deaths, 100,000 asthma attacks and 417,000 lost work days by 2030.
Now has never been a more important time to vote for planet Earth. Vote Democratic up and down the ballot. Shapiro/Davis, Fetterman, Takac, Zeigler, Conklin and Molesevich.
Government to the rescue for me, not thee
Natural disasters remind us why we need a vital and proactive federal government. Why is it that so-called conservative Republicans embrace the federal government when their states face natural disasters, or when the financial institutions are too big to fail, but can’t see that need when it comes to health care, student debt, or even the need to modernize our aging infrastructure.
If you don’t have clean water does it make a difference whether it’s because of a hurricane, or because of aging lead pipes?
The Republicans want big government when they have big problems; they just don’t have enough empathy for the problems facing others.
Save America at the ballot box
I have seen yard signs recently that say “Save America.”
Yes!
Save America by voting for the candidate who supports health care legislation available to all people in our society.
Save America by voting for the candidate who supports a woman’s right to make personal health choices.
Save America by voting for the candidate who will allow doctors to appropriately treat their female patients without fear of reprisal.
Save America by voting for the candidate who will not curtail voting access, will not raise the age to vote and allows unrestricted mail-in voting.
Save America by voting for the candidate who supports civil liberties for all, regardless of race, religion, or who they love.
Save America by voting for the candidate who supports passing stronger gun laws and enforcement.
Save Americans by voting for the candidate who supports banning assault weapons, making them available only for police and military.
Save America by voting for the candidate who supports adequate funding for public education.
We can all help to Save America: Vote for Democrats.
Laws with tragic consequences
There are news reports that a woman in Florida is losing her baby as a direct consequence of Hurricane Ian, but there are serious questions as to what kind of health care she can receive because of Florida’s draconian abortion law.
When you’re in a life-threatening situation does it matter whether it’s because of a hurricane or because lawmakers put lives in danger?
Maybe Floridians need relief from Hurricane DeSantis.
Pennsylvania voters should carefully consider the tragic consequences of reckless and overreaching bans on all abortions when they vote for governor and senator next month.
