BBB a ‘wrecking ball’ for rural PA
The so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act that passed the Trump Congress is a wrecking ball aimed squarely at rural Pennsylvania. By curbing federal support for Medicare and Medicaid, this legislation has put local hospitals under even greater strain — and the Republican members of Congress who voted for it have abandoned the communities they swore to represent.
According to the Center for Healthcare Quality & Payment Reform, more than one in four rural hospitals in Pennsylvania (26%) are at risk of closing, with nearly 1 in 10 facing immediate danger. Over the last two decades, Pennsylvania has already seen dozens of rural hospitals either close entirely or cut vital services, reducing access to care in the communities that need it most. Analysts also warn that scaling back Medicaid support could threaten coverage for hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians, putting both patients and hospitals at risk.
These hospitals are often the only lifeline within miles — the largest employer in town, the first responder in an emergency, and sometimes the only source of care within reach. Yet MAGA-aligned lawmakers sided with special interests over seniors’ lives and local livelihoods, parroting the lie that this bill would not harm Medicare or Medicaid.
This law isn’t fiscal prudence — it’s callous neglect. Rural seniors now face longer drives for medical care, dwindling local access, and the very real possibility of hospitals shutting their doors. That vote was not an act of responsibility. It was the sound of a death knell for Pennsylvania’s rural communities.

The Constitution needs you — now more than ever
As our nation faces growing authoritarian threats, I write to urge every member of our military and law enforcement to remember the oath they swore — not to a man, a party, or a flag, but to the Constitution of the United States.
That oath was not ceremonial. It was a solemn promise to defend the principles that make this country free: civilian rule, equal protection, rule of law, free speech, the right of due process, the right to protest and descent, the prevention of excessive or cruel punishment and democratic governance.
When dictators rise, they often rely on loyal armed enforcers. But history offers another path. In 1918, German soldiers refused to support a collapsing monarchy. Their defiance helped birth a democratic republic. Their loyalty was to the people — not to repression.
In our time, some extremists within our borders seek to overturn elections, silence dissent and erode our rights. They may appeal to nationalism or security, but these are only things they claim to stand for. They’re actually tools of tyranny.
The question for every man and woman in uniform is this: Will you defend the Constitution, or betray it? Refusing illegal or immoral orders is not disobedience — it is the highest form of honor. It is also what was expected when you took the oath. You are not just protectors of the state; you are guardians of liberty.
Stand with the people. Stand with the law. Stand with your oath.
History is watching.

Rural America deserves better
Rural Americans have long been the backbone of this country — hardworking, patriotic and committed to community. But today, your rights, livelihoods and futures are under threat — not from immigrants, not from urban elites, but from a man who claims to represent you while gutting the very programs that keep rural communities alive.
Starting in 2026, access to health care will be sharply restricted. Millions of rural residents on Medicaid — and even some on Medicare — will lose coverage. SNAP benefits that feed families are being eliminated. Rural hospitals, already on the brink, will shut their doors because of funding cuts in Trump’s massive new budget bill.
Trump promised to lower inflation. He hasn’t. And his proposed tariffs are set to raise prices on everyday goods even further — hurting farmers, working families and small businesses.
Meanwhile, he’s slashing Social Security services and openly hinting at eliminating it after the next election. Family and child separations and street abductions are quietly becoming normalized. Books and history that don’t fit his worldview are being erased.
He’s ignored due process, violated the Constitution repeatedly, and seems determined to become a dictator.
Trump does not care about you. He uses you. His loyalty lies only with himself and the wealthy elite who serve his interests.
This is the moment to resist. Speak up. Protest. Call your representatives. We must act now to defend our rights, our families, and our democracy — before it’s too late.
