Outraged by proposed tax plan
Every central Pennsylvania resident should be outraged at the tax plan devised by Gov. Tom Wolf and Sen. Jake Corman.
This plan would raise our sales and income taxes. In so doing, we will be encouraging people to shop outside of the state and take up residence in other states. That is no way to help the economy of Pennsylvania.
To make matters even worse, this plan would centralize all education funding from Harrisburg. In this process, power will be taken away from local school boards and a disproportionate amount of local tax money will be off to the Philadelphia schools.
We can be certain that such a plan is more likely to reduce the funding for our local districts while increasing it in more metropolitan regions.
Corman is letting down this district in a way that will likely yield him serious opposition from Republicans and Democrats alike.
In the meantime, he is only going to please his donors who are large property owners.
