Writer wrong on NRA

The letter from Cam Hironimus in the CDT (12/16) proves once more how little people know about the National Rifle Association and the Second Amendment.

I would suggest that anyone interested in the facts should read what the founders intended when discussing that amendment.

It never was about hunting and target shooting, but rather that law-abiding citizens could be armed to project themselves from attacks or tyranny.

In a case where one is faced with multiple armed attackers, the 10-round clip mentioned by the writer might not be enough. Are the criminals going to limit themselves to 10 rounds?

Also, you’d have to be living in a bubble for the past 50 years to be unaware of numerous efforts by Democrats to either take away or limit our rights under the Second Amendment.

At one time they even tried to ban guns that were commonly used for hunting. And within just the past few years, anti-gun politicians used tax dollars to attempt to deny the people of D.C. and Chicago their right to protect themselves.

Fortunately, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled favorably on the Second Amendment in the Heller and McDonald cases.
