Fear driving society

The current political debate, the arming of individuals and the lack of government action on our behalf are all based on fear.

Fear is the driving force in our society. Fear is why someone proposes building a wall, advocates torture and disparages someone’s appearance. Fear wants it legal for everyone to carry a handgun everywhere. Fear is why elected representatives will not compromise in order to solve problems. Fear mongering by the National Rifle Association, Donald Trump and obstructionist elected representatives is taking us down a very dark road.

We should listen carefully to the words: Do not be afraid (Matthew 10:28).
