Shared values

I met Katie McGinty when she was secretary of the Department of Environmental Protection and have supported her since that time.

We share many of the same values. She is a strong environmentalist, endorsed by environmental groups because of her continued work to bring in jobs associated with renewable energy; she also has a strong commitment to education, Medicare and Social Security, and equal pay.

As the first member of her family to go to college, McGinty personally understands the importance of education. No one is more committed than McGinty to improve education, from pre-K to college affordability.

McGinty is also concerned about those who want to balance the budget on the backs of seniors. She will make sure that Medicare and Social Security remain strong for today’s seniors and tomorrow’s retirees, “to make sure the contributions our seniors have made will be respected.”

McGinty supports raising the minimum wage to $15 and closing the wage gap once and for all. It is unacceptable that women in Pennsylvania, many raising children on their own, are paid less than men for the same work. Equal pay and an increased minimum wage go hand in hand to restoring the middle class.

I was proud to hear that President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bob Casey, who know what kind of senator they wish they had to help them, have all endorsed McGinty for Senate.

Please join me and vote for Katie McGinty.
