Praise for police

I want to commend the State College and Penn State police officers who arrested the armed robbery suspect without shooting him when he refused to lie down (CDT, 8/4).

In many places he would have been shot multiple times. We are fortunate to have highly qualified and well-trained mentally and emotionally stable officers.

I’m also very pleased with the State College assistant chief’s promotion to police chief.
