Mason Mellott, Clarence Mounties blank Howard Hawks in County League action
Mason Mellott was dominant on the mound to lead the Clarence Mounties to a 5-0 win over the Howard Hawks in Centre County Baseball League play Friday night.
Mellott pitched a complete game to earn the win, finishing with 13 strikeouts while allowing five hits and two walks.
Bryce Greene finished with four hits, including a double, to pace the Mounties offensively. Greene had a two-run single in the bottom of the third inning.
Brian Kochik had two singles, and Ryan MacNamara and Chuck Probst each doubled.
Clarence improved its record to 14-1, while Howard fell to 9-7.
The Mounties will travel to Pleasant Gap for a doubleheader Sunday. Howard (9-7) will return to action at the Clarence Mounties on Tuesday.
