Mounties sweep Pleasant Gap
The Clarence Mounties swept their doubleheader against Pleasant Gap in Centre County Baseball League action Sunday, winning 6-2 and 2-0 at Governor’s Park.
Chuck Probst’s RBI single in the third inning gave the Mounties a 2-0 lead in the first game. Clarence then put the game out of reach with four runs in the fifth on its way to the 6-2 win.
Probst and Bryan Greene each had two hits for the Mounties, and teammate Brian Kochik had a double. Ryan Guenot earned the win for Clarence.
In the second game, Clarence (16-1) managed just two hits in its 2-0 win.
Bryce Greene walked, stole second and scored on a single by Probst in the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Greg Watson had two singles to lead the Peppers, who finished with seven hits in the loss.
Coyotes, Ducks split doubleheader
CLARENCE The Clarence Coyotes and Lemont Ducks split a doubleheader Sunday in Centre County Baseball League action.
Clarence won the first game 6-5, thanks to a five-run fifth inning. Trey Stover had a two-run single and Jordan Kobularcik added a two-run double in the big inning for the Coyotes.
Winning pitcher Tyler Schall paced Clarence with two singles.
Willie Sefter led Lemont with two doubles in the loss.
Sefter stayed hot in the second game to help Lemont beat the Coyotes 9-8. Sefter finished with two singles and a triple for the Ducks (8-10), who used a five-run fourth inning to bounce back for the win.
The Coyotes made two errors in the fourth to contribute to Lemont’s five-run inning.
Clarence (3-12) returns to action at Philipsburg on Monday.
