Campus Corner: Philipsburg-Osceola’s Boumerhi boots game-winning FG for Temple

Temple recorded its first win of the season thanks to Philipsburg-Osceola graduate Aaron Boumerhi.

The Owls (1-1) beat cross-town rival Villanova 16-13 Saturday when Boumerhi kicked a 49-yard field goal with 1:00 left in the game. The sophomore also booted a 44-yard field goal in the third quarter

Boumerhi has made 2 of 3 field goal attempts to date.

Football

Nick Gray (P-O, Juniata) has six solo tackles, an assist and a sack for minus-8 yards. Juniata is 0-2 after losing to Franklin and Marshall 52-7.

Austin Peck (State College, Juniata) saw playing time on the offensive line against F&M.

Cameron Tobias (Penns Valley, Lock Haven) is 43-for-73 for 434 yards and six interceptions. He also has one solo tackle. Lock Haven is 0-2 after losing to Edinboro 20-3 on Saturday.

Kashim Buey (State College native, Lock Haven) has one reception for six yards.

Bryce Greene (Bald Eagle Area, Lock Haven) leads the team in receptions with 12 for 113 yards. He has also carried twice for eight yards.

Nick Boumerhi (P-O, Lock Haven) has made a pair of field goals. He averages 26.2 yards per kick on nine punts and 63.3 yards on four kickoffs.

Taylor Collison (Penns Valley, Franklin & Marshall) led F&M in rushing against Juniata with 83 yards and has seven carries for 104 yards and a touchdown for the season. The Diplomats are off to a 2-0 start.

Jon Seighman (State College, Lehigh) has five solo tackles for Lehigh (0-2).

Chase Collison (Penns Valley, Westminster) is a sophomore fullback for the Titans (1-1).

Ben Alexander (Penns Valley, Liberty) is a redshirt-freshman safety for the Flames (2-0).

Soccer

Haley Crawford (State College, James Madison) leads the Dukes with 10 points and is tied for the team lead with four goals to go with two assists. JMU is 4-3.

Kyle Moerschbacher (State College, St. Francis) has taken five shots for the Red Flash. St. Francis is 3-3.

Haley Giedroc (BEA, Penn State-Altoona) has played in all three games and has taken two shots. Altoona is 1-2.

Jess Book (Bellefonte, Grove City) has taken one shot in two games. Grove City is 2-1.

Lauren Anderson (State College, Misericordia) has a goal and an assist. Misericordia is 4-0-1.

Saede Eifrig (State College, Haverford) leads the team with two goals. Haverford is 1-1-1.

Mac Schailey (State College, Widener) has started all four of the team’s games on defense, taking one shot. The Pride are 1-2-1.

Volleyball

Taylor Leath (State College, North Carolina) was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday after posting 43 kills, .360 hitting and 18 digs in wins against LIU-Brooklyn and LSU. She had a career-high 27 kills — the most by a Tar Heel since 2005 — against the Tigers. She has 78 kills, four assists, three aces, 51 digs and 10 blocks this season. UNC is 2-4.

Kayla Bracken (Penns Valley, Delaware Valley) has 13 kills, an assist, an ace and 16 digs. Delaware Valley is 0-1.

Sydney McNulty (State College, Geneva) has 42 kills, 10 assists, nine aces, 67 digs and 19 blocks. Geneva is 2-7.

Vee Skripek (BEA, Penn Sate-Altoona) has 19 kills, an assist, four aces and 14 digs. Altoona is 2-6.

Olivia Meyer (Penns Valley, Penn State-Altoona) has an assist and 11 digs.

Alli Henderson (State College, Kutztown) is second on the Golden Bears with 61 kills to go with 64 digs, eight blocks, 16 assists and four aces. Kutztown is 2-6.

Field hockey

Lauren Bonness (State College, Michigan State) has a goal and an assist. Michigan State is 3-4.

Aiko Dzikowski (State College, Smith) has played in two games. Smith is 1-2.

Paige Meily (State College, Penn) has an assist while starting all four games for the Quakers (1-3).

Cross country

Kyle Adams (State College, Bucknell) was 28th overall and Bucknell’s fifth scoring runner with a time of 27 minutes, 25 seconds over 5.2 miles in the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State on Friday.

Emma Cousins (State College, Bucknell) finished 59th in 23:53 over 6 kilometers at the Spiked Shoe meet.

Eli Urban (St. Joseph’s, St. Vincent) finished sixth overall in 28:47 as St. Vincent had five of the top six spots to win the Early Bird Invitational team title.

Josiah Stickles (Bellefonte, St. Vincent) was 16th in 29:39 in the Early Bird Invitational.
