Laura Freigang earns weekly TopDrawerSoccer honor

Penn State sophomore midfielder/forward Laura Freigang was named Tuesday to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week from Nov. 6-12.

It’s her second straight week on the team.

On Friday, Freigang came away with the 21st hat trick in program history during a 7-0 win over Stony Brook in the first round of the NCAA women’s soccer tournament. She scored all three goals within the first 38 minutes of play.

The Nittany Lions will next take on No. 24 Wake Forest at 4 p.m. Friday in Morgantown, W.Va.

Women’s lacrosse

PSU signs 7

The Penn State women’s lacrosse team welcomed seven new members during the early signing period, coach Missy Doherty announced Tuesday.

The signees include three players from Maryland (Sloane Dowgiallo, Mary Muldoon, Taylor Suplee) two from New York (Lauren Craft, Erin Triandafils) and two from Pennsylvania (Marina Miller, Sydney Wolfington).

The season kicks off in February.
