Campus Corner: Penns Valley grad Orndorf earns conference honors at Juniata

Penns Valley graduate Kylie Orndorf was named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week for her performance in Juniata’s track and field dual meet with Susquehanna last month.

The junior broke the school record in the weight throw by posting a top mark of 40 feet, 7 inches, breaking the old record by nearly seven feet. She also won the shot put with an effort of 33-2  3/4.

Wrestling

Cory Hazel (Penns Valley, Lock Haven) posted a 4-0 record at 184 pounds at last weekend’s Virginia Duals. Hazel posted one major decision as one of three Eagles to post undefeated records at the event. Lock Haven (7-1) placed third with wins over Fresno State 25-13, Bucknell 21-9 and Tennessee-Chattanooga 22-18, while falling to Oklahoma 21-15.

Trevor Corl (Bellefonte, Lycoming) is now 26-2 and ranked ninth at 149 after going 2-0 in the Budd Whitehill Duals.

Basketball

Zach Engle (Penns Valley, Juniata) averages 0.7 points and 0.9 rebounds. Juniata is 13-2.

Bryan Sekunda (State College, Stony Brook) has a 7.1 scoring average with 41 rebounds, 34 assists, four steals and four blocks. Stony Brook is 7-11.

Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh (State College, Lock Haven) is averaging 5.7 points per game and has 54 rebounds, seven assists, eight steals and a block. Lock Haven is 2-13.

Kyla Irwin (State College, UConn) sees an average of eight minutes of playing time per game for the top-ranked Huskies (15-0). She has six assists, three steals and averages 1.3 rebounds and 2.6 points per game.

Jess Book (Bellefonte, Grove City) has a 3.1 scoring average with 54 rebounds, 11 assists and five steals.

Cass Book (Bellefonte, Grove City) averages 1.5 points per game and has 15 rebounds, four assists and a steal. Grove City is 10-5.

Tommy Sekunda (State College, Seton Hill) has a 6.2 scoring average and has 30 rebounds, nine assists and two steals. Seton Hill is 6-10.

Taylor Love (State College, Marymount) is averaging 2.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. Marymount is 13-2.

Swimming

Megan Duck (Penns Valley, Susquehanna) swam on the sixth-place 200-yard medley relay team that had a time of 2 minutes, 3.35 seconds in a meet against Franklin and Marshall. She also was fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.98, sixth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:43.95 and sixth in the 200 individual medley in 2:30.56.

Seth Erdley (Sate College, St. Bonaventure) was third in the 200 backstroke in 1:59.57 and fifth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:21.35 in a dual meet with Binghamton.

Indoor track & field

Emma Federinko (Penns Valley, Misericordia) posted a time of 11:07.42 in the 3,000-meter run to place 15th in the Towson Tiger Invitational.
