Kyle Larson provides a rare look at his racing journey

Kyle Larson's quest to complete 'The Double' will showcase its behind-the-scenes coverage on Amazon Prime Video ahead of the hyped show's May 21 debut, Kyle Larson vs. The Double

Over the past two years, Larson has attempted the grueling feat on the day before Memorial Day. The challenge showcases one driver (Larson) with support from his sponsors to complete the Indy 500 in the afternoon, fly to Charlotte, North Carolina, and then complete the Coca-Cola 600 at night.

In history, only 5 drivers have ever attempted 'The Double': John Andretti, Tony Stewart, Robby Gordon, Kurt Busch, and Kyle Larson. Katherine Legge will be the 6th driver, and first female to attempt the feat in 2026, partnering with AJ Foyt Racing and Live Fast Motorsports.

The rare 1,100-mile feat has never been easy. Not to spoil the show, but if you are unfamiliar with Larson's results, we will label them as having been difficult.

Prime will showcase its long-awaited show on May 21, just days before 'The Greatest Day in Motorsports', which will showcase all three flaship series of worldwide motorsports: NASCAR, INDYCAR, and Formula One.

Historically, the Sunday begins with Formula One's Monaco Grand Prix at 9:00 a.m. ET to kickstart the day, which goes on to have the Indy 500 at Noon and the Coca-Cola 600 at 6:00 p.m. ET. Instead, Formula One modified its 2026 schedule. A different race in Formula One takes place this Sunday: the Canadian Grand Prix, which will air at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Larson allowed the camera into his life in great detail while filming this show. The 90-minute documentary will feature an all-inclusive behind-the-scenes look into Larson's preparation and mindset in racing The Double.

The journey to race all 1,100 miles in one day began in 2024 when Hendrick Motorsports and McLaren teamed up to give Larson the shot. Unfortunately, rain derailed Larson's attempt to complete both races.

Luckily for Larson, he was on a 2-year deal to complete the feat. He made his return in 2025, which we will not spoil. In the show, the viewer will discover how Larson did and how his results may compare with the greats, including John Andretti, Tony Stewart, and the 2 other drivers who attempted the feat before Larson.

Per Larson, "It turned out really good," when referencing the show. "Just happy to get it out there, and kind of put the final closing on The Double," Larson further remarked. He will most likely not attempt the feat again. The 2-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion will make his debut in his show on May 21 and then set his sights on both winning Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 and a 3rd Cup Series Championship over the next 6 months of racing.

If you are a fan of motorsports, the show is a must-watch. Larson attacked both open-wheel racing and stock car racing across 1,100 miles in one single day, on top of endless practice sessions. It is motorsports at its finest, with a rare behind-the-scenes look into every minute detail of the effort.
