5 Teams Named ‘Best Fit' for LeBron James

LeBron James is set to become a free agent this offseason and ESPN believes there are five potential fits for the future Hall of Famer.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks wrote a new column suggesting the Los Angeles Lakers should offer James a one-year, $30 million contract with a no trade clause to keep the King in Los Angeles. However, he also noted four other teams that could potentially swoop in and ink the four-time NBA champion to a deal.

He listed the Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors as potential landing spots.

Marks noted the Nuggets, Warriors and Cavaliers can only offer James the veteran minimum of $3.9 million. The Lakers star doesn’t need the money and could opt to take a lesser deal to chase one more championship, but he’s not making a decision any time soon.

“I’m still in the moment of just taking my time,” James said on a recent episode of his podcast “Mind the Game,” with co-host Steve Nash. “I haven’t even really thought about it too much. Obviously, I understand that I’m a free agent and I can control my own destiny — being here with [the Lakers] for the foreseeable future or if it’s going somewhere else.”

James said a potential decision could come as late as August.
