Sue Bird Debuts New Look After Split With Megan Rapinoe

WNBA legend Sue Bird turned plenty of heads this week during an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."

Bird, a 13-time All-Star and four-time WNBA champion, has been in the headlines lately due to her personal life. It was revealed last month that she broke up with former U.S. soccer star Megan Rapinoe. She met the two-time World Cup champion at a photoshoot for the 2016 Rio Olympics before developing a romantic relationship in 2017.

During an episode of their "A Touch More" podcast, Bird and Rapinoe revealed they were going their separate ways.

"There really is no smooth or easy way to share this news. After a lot of thought, we've made the decision to separate as a couple. This hasn't been an easy decision, but it's one we've made together, with so much love, respect and care for each other. We've shared a whole life over the last decade, through big moments and in quiet ones, and that is something we'll always carry with us," their joint statement read. "Getting to create A Touch More: The Podcast and build a network around it has been a tremendous joy. The conversations, the laughter, the connection – it means more than we can put into words. While this chapter of doing the podcast together is ending, what we've built with you isn't. Thank you for being with us through all of it… it means the world to us."

Although she didn't talk about her personal life while on "The Tonight Show," Bird received plenty of praise for her appearance.

"Sue got that post break up glow," a fan wrote.

"She looks really good," a second fan said.

"Wow Sue Bird is just aging amazing," another fan declared.

What is Sue Bird currently up to?

Prior to the start of the 2026 season, NBC hired Bird as a studio analyst for its WNBA coverage.

"There is no more accomplished player in the history of the WNBA and arguably in all of women's sports than Sue Bird," NBC Sports producer Betsy Riley said in a statement. "Sue's knowledge of the game is unmatched and will bring fans closer to the sport they love, both through analysis and storytelling."

Bird said she watches film of old basketball games to get herself prepared for every appearance on NBC.
