Golden Knights Announce Mark Stone News Before Game 2 vs. Avalanche

The Vegas Golden Knights have been slightly overlooked throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but as it stands, they have a 1-0 lead in their series against the Colorado Avalanche following a 4-2 victory in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.

That comes despite captain Mark Stone being on the sidelines, as he hasn't played since a Game 3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks in their Western Conference semi-finals matchup. Unsurprisingly, the extent and details of the injuries have not been revealed, as he missed Game 1 of their current series with the Avalanche for what is being termed a 'lower-body injury.'

Unfortunately for the Golden Knights, Stone will not be returning for Game 2 against the Avalanche according to head coach John Tortorella, and given that they took a 1-0 lead in Game 1 on the road, giving him an extra day off may just be what is needed to get him close to a return in Game 3.

In nine post-season games thus far in 2026, Stone has been fantastic for Vegas, posting 3 goals and 7 points in that time as he was critical to their round one victory over the surprisingly competitive Utah Mammoth. While Mitch Marner has stepped up in Stone's absence, solidifying himself as a genuine Conn Smythe candidate, if Vegas are to win their second ever Stanley Cup, they'll need Stone on the ice, even if he's not at 100%.

For now though, Vegas are up 1-0 in their series against Colorado, and while they're still confident they can take a 2-0 lead without Stone on Friday, they'll definitely need him back in the lineup soon.
