PIAA Track and Field Championships: Daniel Boone's Julia Leady earns another medal; Gourley, Paolini get thirds

Daniel Boone junior Julia Leady won her second medal in two days at the PIAA Track and Field Championships today at Shippensburg University.

Leady placed fifth in the girls 3A 3200-meter run in 10:28.32. On Friday, she was seventh in the 1600 in 4:54.79.

Emmaus senior Madelyn McCartney, the 3A cross country champion last fall, was seventh in 10:30.46.

Peters Township freshman Kathryn Froelich completed the distance double, winning the 3200 in 10:18.20 after winning the 1600 on Friday in 48:48.08.

Downingtown West sophomore Julia Kelly was second in 10:19.25.

In the boys 2A 3200, Oley Valley senior Ryan Gourley placed third in 9:21.05. Quaker Valley junior Jonah Montagnese won in 9:11.23, with Elk Lake senior Kendel Jones second (9:17.54).

In the girls 2A 100 hurdles, Wyomissing junior Lily Paolini placed third (14.35) and her teammate Bre'Yana Durham, a sophomore, got seventh (15.68). They have another shot at medal in the 4 x 100 relay later today.

Wilson sophomore Damian Greer finished fourth in the 3A boys 100 in 10.68. Blue Mountain junior Chase Guers won in 10.61.

After winning the 3A girls shot put on Friday, Alivia Noecker placed fifth in the discus on Saturday with a throw of 131-10. Her teammate Maddie Henne, a senior, was one one place behind Noecker with a throw of 130-5.

The Oley Valley foursome of Cathryn Fegely, Jillian Rogers, Julianna Gourley and Marli Laity was sixth in the 2A girls 4 x 800 relay in 9:46.85.

Twin Valley junior Addison Nudy cleared 5-3 to place eighth in the 3A girls high jump.

Schuylkill Valley junior Darasimi Adeyemi missed a medal in the 2A shot put by one place, finishing ninth with a throw of 35-3¼.
