Giants Legend Jumbo Elliott Calls Out Jaxson Dart For Supporting President Trump

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart appears to have caused a major stir among Giants fans and even a couple of his teammates over his decision to introduce and praise President Donald Trump at an event this week. Among the many speaking out against Dart's decision is former Giants offensive lineman Jumbo Elliott.

The former Pro Bowler and Super Bowl XXV champion has long been a critic of President Trump. So when he saw that Dart had shown support for the Commander-in-Chief, he levied a number of criticisms before calling the whole scene "pitiful."

"Was it the setting up of an insurrection against America? The Epstein relationship & coverup? Maybe just being so damn corrupt is what cinched it for him. SMH. Pitiful," Elliott wrote in response to Dart's speech.

A Divided Fanbase

Pretty much every post addressing Dart's speech for Trump this week has a divisive comments and reposts section. Elliott's is no different with some fans praising him for speaking up and others lambasting him for opposing President Trump and Dart.

"You're brainwashed and propagandized dude. What else would explain how he won reelection?" one user replied.

"Well said from a true Giants superstar, and more importantly a true American patriot for not being afraid to call out this corrupt president," another wrote.

"The only thing pitiful is you regurgitating lies," wrote a third.

"He can believe whatever he wants. He can even do it publicly. Is it wise, however, to offend a large portion of your teammates and fan base and divide people who would otherwise be united behind you? It has nothing to do with freedom. He's free to do it. That said, it was stupid."

Giants pass rusher Abdul Carter has already made his thoughts on the issue pretty clear. He did not seem amused in his now-viral repost of Dart's appearance at the event.

That said, aside from being the source of some media questions in training camp and throughout the season, it's doubtful that this will have a tangible impact on the field. A lot more Giants fans will probably be rooting for him to fail now, but it seems unlikely that anyone demands to leave the team over it.
