NBA Insider Claims LeBron James is Taking Team's Pitch ‘Really Seriously'
The world is awaiting LeBron James‘s announcement of his next move before ending his legendary career, and he reportedly took one surprising team that entered the mix “really seriously.”
This offseason, the 41-year-old basketball great parted ways with the Los Angeles Lakers, a team he spent eight years playing for, and won his fourth NBA championship with. That opened the door for many possibilities, with teams including the Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks even part of speculation.
However, according to NBA insider Shams Charania, there are really just three teams that LeBron’s decision is focused on: the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Philadelphia 76ers.
“Philadelphia was not in the picture,” Charania said in Stephen A. Smith’s recent YouTube video, adding, “So when the Sixers got Jaylen Brown, I did some research, and I found out within 24 hours, he’s taking their pitch really seriously.”

The 76ers pulled off a blockbuster trade last week, sending nine-time All-Star Paul George and future first and second-round draft picks to the Boston Celtics in exchange for the 2024 NBA Finals MVP and five-time All-Star Jaylen Brown.
With Brown in a starting lineup already featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe, it immediately boosted Philly onto the list of Eastern Conference contenders. However, two of the other teams LeBron is considering also have All-Stars in their lineup.
Boston was among the teams that wanted Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks, but the former NBA MVP and champion ended up going in a blockbuster trade to the Miami Heat. Since the trade, Giannis has reportedly indicated he would like LeBron to return to Miami to play alongside him, Bam Adebayo, and the rest of the Heat in pursuit of a title.
The same can be said of the Cleveland Cavaliers, who didn’t make any major trades, but still have a backcourt featuring former NBA MVP James Harden and All-Star Donovan Mitchell. The Cavs are in a similar position to the 76ers, having been swept from the Eastern Conference Playoffs by the eventual champion New York Knicks.
After Mitchell signed a contract extension with the Cavaliers, Charania reported he was told that Mitchell is on board with upgrading the roster and would embrace James’ decision to return to the Cavaliers.
As of this writing, Kalshi still has the strongest prediction for LeBron’s landing spot as the Cavaliers, which is hovering around 50%, suggesting the basketball great will fittingly wrap up his career with the team where his legend began.
