Patrick Mahomes Reacts to Major Announcement Away From Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for a pivotal 2026 NFL season while superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues working his way back from a torn ACL he suffered on December 14. The Chiefs held a disappointing 6-7 record before Mahomes went down, and were sitting outside the playoff picture, but the devastating injury to their leader all but ended any chance they had of making a late-season push, as they finished the season 6-11.

Although Mahomes' focus remains on recovering for the 2026 season and hopefully returning in time for the Chiefs' Week 1 matchup with the Denver Broncos, Mahomes continues to keep a close eye on another Kansas City franchise in which he has a personal investment.

The two-time NFL MVP and three-time Super Bowl MVP has been a minority owner of the Kansas City Royals since July of 2020, and regularly shows his support for the club. On Wednesday, the Royals announced that sophomore slugger Jac Caglianone will participate in the 2026 MLB Home Run Derby in Philadelphia.

Shortly after the announcement, Mahomes reacted on X with a brief but enthusiastic two-word message.

"Let's goo!!! ," Mahomes posted.

Caglianone has quickly become one of baseball's most exciting young power hitters and one of the biggest bright spots for the 38-54 Royals this season. Through 85 games, the 23-year-old is slashing .258/.322/.455 with 14 home runs and 33 RBIs.

While Mahomes will undoubtedly be keeping an eye on the Home Run Derby, Chiefs fans also have plenty to look forward to as the NFL season approaches. Kansas City is scheduled to report for training camp starting on July 24, before their first preseason game on August 15 against the Los Angeles Rams.
